Our Story
-
Sports and physical training are gifts meant to be enjoyed and stewarded by all. But in our culture, they are often distorted and idolized.
We see…
Overtraining and burnout.
Body image struggles and unhealthy relationships with food.
Athletes defining their worth by their performance.
Fear of injury and hopelessness when it happens.
Training for short-term results or obsessing over longevity.
Others withdrawing from movement altogether, avoiding what they were never taught how to build, and believing they are simply not athletic.
-
Holete was created to restore a healthier vision of sports and physical training.
We believe our bodies are gifts entrusted to us, vessels where God dwells. We are called to steward them with wisdom, discipline, and excellence.
We believe competition goes beyond winning. It is a space where humility, courage, resilience, and Christlikeness can be practiced and formed.
We believe injuries and weakness are not signs of failure, but reminders that we live in a broken world, waiting for full redemption. We train hard, rest well, and entrust our bodies to the Lord in both strength and limitation.
-
At Holete, spiritual and physical formation are NOT separated.
As we strengthen the body, we shape the heart. As we grow in faith, we transform how we train.
We aim to build athletes:
Who steward their bodies well to faithfully carry out their callings.
Who grow in Christlikeness through competition and training.
Who develop and train their heart and body together.
Who enjoy movement as a lifelong gift.
-
The name Holete comes from Holistic Athlete and points toward becoming a Holy Athlete.
We are building disciplined, grounded, faithful women and men who train with excellence and rest in grace.
Foundations
Training is not just about performance and it is not something to avoid.
In our culture, the body is often idolized or neglected, pushed to extremes or withdrawn from altogether.
Holete was built to restore a deeper, long-term vision of training, rooted in stewardship, formation, enjoyment and lasting strength.
Our Principles
WHY DOES THE BODY MATTER?
Stewardship of the Body
Our bodies are not our own but a vessel for the Spirit to dwell in. We are called to steward them with wisdom, care, and excellence.
What Can Training Produce in us?
Formation in Competition & Training
Competition in sports and the discipline of physical training are spaces where we practice Christlikeness and participate in sanctification. Beyond winning, we value formation and enjoyment.
How Should we Approach it?
Redeemed Approach to Training & Fueling
We seek a healthy relationship with exercise, sport, competition, food, and self-image. We reject both obsession and avoidance, learning to approach them through a Kingdom-minded lens.
What do we do with weakness?
The Hope in Our Broken Bodies
We live in a fallen world with bodies that are not yet perfect and prone to weakness, injury, aches, and pain. We live in the “in-between” of what Christ has already accomplished and what is still to be restored. The groaning of our bodies leads us to entrust our pain to the Lord, praying for His healing now while holding onto the hope of complete restoration in eternity.
Why do we ultimately train?
A Kingdom-Minded View of Training
We are not training only for the moment or obsessing over longevity. Instead, we train with diligence, discipline, and excellence, while resting in God’s grace amid imperfection and allowing training to serve the callings He has given us.
Who are we Training?
Training the Whole Person
Our bodies, hearts, and minds were created together to worship God. We believe in training all in tandem, knowing that growth in one shapes the other.
Meet the Founder
Holete was founded by Dr. Jenna Rao, a Physical Therapist and athlete who believes training should build more than performance.
She holds a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree and a minor in Youth Development, with experience working alongside Division I athletes and now treating athletes daily — from youth athletes, to semi-professional competitors, endurance runners, CrossFit coaches, and active adults.
Jenna is also an athlete herself — competing in HYROX, running races, playing basketball, and strength training consistently. She understands both the pursuit of excellence and the setbacks that come with injuries.
Through her own seasons of overtraining, injuries, and wrestling with identity in sports, she began asking deeper questions about stewardship, resilience, and purpose. Holete was built at that intersection of clinical expertise and lived experience.
Her mission is to help athletes train hard, heal wisely, and build strength that lasts far beyond sports.
